Here at GOOD, we've had the privilege of working with lots of talented women. Our in-house design team is female-dominated; four out of six designers on staff are women who crank out terrific work on a daily basis. So we found ourselves puzzled when some folks in the design community said they were having a tough time finding female designers to include in projects and events.
Just how hard is it to find a few good women designers? We took to Twitter to find out, soliciting tips for talented illustrators and designers to be featured in an informal showcase. The response was staggering. With more than 150 portfolios submitted, paring it down was difficult.
Eventually we chose to feature 25 women, but this slideshow is just the tip of the iceberg. Use the comments section to promote your favorite woman designer or illustrator (or, if you are one, to promote yourself). Let's make this a go-to resource so that the excuse "Oh, I just don't know any female designers" can be put to rest.

Director of Creative Projects for Pinball Publishing in Portland, Lavelle elevates creative projects with smart observations and a sharp wit.
Alanna MacGowan
MacGowan is one half of the Seattle/New York studio The Dye Lab. Her work deftly merges strong type work with iconic graphic styling.
Aimee Gauthier
Currently working in San Francisco at Chronicle books, Gauthier creates beautiful publication work. She will soon be moving to Minneapolis, where she'll freelance.

Run by two sisters, this studio specializes in hand-generated illustrations and typography.
Beth Hoeckel
Baltimore-based Hoeckel serves up surreal, strangely beautiful moments both in her collage and illustration work.
Amanda Buck
Buck is a freelance designer living in Greensboro, Ala., and a founding member of PieLab. She has collaborated with GOOD on various infographics. Soon she'll be relocating to Chicago as a freelancer.
Anne Ulku
Ulku lives in Minneapolis, Minn., and she's open to new freelance and collaborative projects.
Brianna Harden
A former illustration intern at GOOD, Harden now lives and works in Brooklyn.
Tuesday Bassen
One half of the dynamic female duo behind Studio Sweet Studio, Bassen is an illustrator who calls New York home.
Elsa Lang
One half of Always With Honor, Lang also employs her design prowess in making beautiful stitched goods.
Jennifer Daniel
Guest Art Director on Issue 021 of GOOD, Daniel is now the graphics director at Businessweek. She's also very funny.

Erin Fuller

Brooklyn-based Hische produces a lot of stellar work but is best known for Daily Drop Cap.
Kate Bingaman Burt
Currently living, working and teaching in Portland, Bingaman Burt is most well known for her book, Obsessive Consumption: What Did You Buy Today?
Lotta Nieminen
A multi-disciplinary designer and illustrator, Nieminen is based in Brooklyn.
Pizza Island
A cartoonists' studio based in Brooklyn, Pizza Island is made up of Kate Beaton, Domitille Collardey, Sarah Glidden, Meredith Gran, Lisa Hanawalt, and Julia Wertz.
Maria Janosko
Janosko crafts terrific work for a variety of cool projects. She calls Portland home.
Sarah Kissell
Now the Los Angeles-based art director for Nasty Gal, Kissell was formerly a senior designer at Urban Outfitters.
Sara Saedi
A former illustration intern at GOOD, Saedi is based in Los Angeles.
Susan Murphy
Murphy cut her teeth at different studios and agencies, and was most recently part of the Philly-based 160over90. She'll soon be starting work in the Netherlands with Edenspiekermann.
Roxanne Daner
Hailing from Los Angeles, Daner showcases superb illustration skills.
Jessica Walsh
Having worked at such esteemed studios as Sagmeister Inc, Pentagram and Print magazine, Walsh raises the bar with hand-assembled illustrations and typography. She lives and works in New York.
Valerie Jar
Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Jar seamlessly mixes design and illustration.
