Reddit tops 1 billion page views per month

redditSince the misstep by Digg last year with its doomed V4, it's been obvious that the largest player in the social news scene has been the Condé Nast-owned reddit.Yesterday, the point was rammed home when the site announced that it had hit one billion page views per month, a four-fold increase year-on-year, and a 20% increase in just the last month.

While the troubles with Digg certainly boosted the market share reddit could claim, the rest of the analytics data posted by the social news site makes for interesting reading. It shows that the colossal one billion page views were generated by just under 14 million unique visitors, with an average time of over 15 minutes on the site at any one time, and just under 15 pages viewed per visit. Any site, let alone a social media site, would be over the moon to show that high a retention level of its readers.

Impressive stuff indeed, but are you, our dear readers, reddit or Digg users? Did you jump ship with the launch of Digg V4, or was reddit the only sensible choice from the get-go?
