Flash 10.2 available to Honeycomb tablets in a 'few weeks,' Motorola Xoom shipping without it

Adobe announced yesterday that a tablet optimized-Flash Player 10.2 will come pre-installed on some slates, but will be an OTA download for most Android Honeycomb tablets available in 'a few weeks.' What this means is that the Honeycomb launch device, the Motorola Xoom that'll be available this Thursday, is going to ship without Flash Player. In fact an ad for the Verizon-equipped Xoom listed Flash 'expected Spring 2011.'

A 'few weeks' and 'Spring 2011' point to a mid-march showing for Flash on Honeycomb, which is better than Summer 2011 granted; but somehow given that Honeycomb tablet showing was delayed by Google, you'd think Adobe would be keen to get Flash in there from the start if they could. Let's hope for Adobe's sake that Honeycomb-equpped tablet weilders don't discover that Apple was right and that they simply don't need Flash on a mobile device.
